Privacy Policy

We respect your privacy. This privacy policy explains how information is collected and used on our site.

E-mail

E-mail verification is required when signing up in the forums. In addition, you may choose to send us an e-mail or contact us via the contact form. Your e-mail address will never be disclosed to any third party.

Cookies

Cookies are small text files which are sent by a web server and stored in your computer’s web browser temporary files. We use cookies on our site for statistical purposes such as counting hits on a web page and assessing which browsers and screen resolutions visitors use in order to optimize user experience. Cookies may also be used to register votes in polls and improve user experience in the forums.

Cookies do not include information that is personally identifiable and can be disabled in your browser. Disabling cookies will not affect your ability to use this site, but may somewhat reduce user experience in the forums.

We use third-party advertising companies such as Google to serve ads when you visit our website. These companies may use information (not including your name, address, email address, or telephone number) about your visits to this and other websites in order to provide advertisements about goods and services of interest to you. Read more about Google's DART cookie and opt-out options here. A full list of third-party vendors can be found here. You may visit those vendor websites to opt out of cookies, if the vendor offers this capability.

External Links

Any link (including without limitation any links posted by users in our forums) are provided for your convenience only and are accessed at your own risk. We are not responsible in any way for the content of any third party website or for goods or services provided by the operators of such websites, and, unless otherwise stated are not responsible for and do not endorse or recommend any third party website. If you choose to use any of the links provided, you should read the terms and conditions and privacy statement of the third party website.

Forums

Your information is collected via two ways. Firstly, browsing the forum will cause the board software to create a number of cookies. The first two cookies just contain a user identifier (or “user-id”) and an anonymous session identifier (“session-id”), automatically assigned to you by the board software. A third cookie will be created once you have browsed topics within the forums and is used to store which topics have been read, thereby improving your user experience.

The second way in which we collect your information is by what you submit to us. This can be, and is not limited to: posting as an anonymous user, registering on the forum and posts submitted by you after registration and whilst logged in.

Your account will at a bare minimum contain a uniquely identifiable name (your user name), a personal password used for logging into your account and a personal, valid e-mail address. Within your account, you have the option to opt-in or opt-out of automatically generated e-mails from the forum. Your e-mail address will not be visible to the public, nor will it be visible to other members of the forums. Users may choose to make additional information, such as country of residence, personal web site etc., available to other registered members.

Your password is ciphered so that it is secure. However, it is recommended that you do not reuse the same password across a number of different websites. Your password is the means of accessing your account at the Colonization Fans Forums, so please guard it carefully and under no circumstance will anyone affiliated with the Colonization Fans Forums, or any other 3rd party, legitimately ask you for your password. Should you forget your password for your account, you can use the “I forgot my password” feature provided. This process will ask you to submit your user name and your e-mail, and a new password will be generated and sent to you.

We ask you to be mindful of the fact that posting personal information in public areas can be collected and used by people you do not know.
